Technician License Study Class Scheduled (added 15-November-2008)
The Philipsburg Amateur Radio Association has announced plans to hold a Technician Licens Study Class in Philipsburg starting on MArch 19, 2009. Anyone interested in obtaining their Technician Class license is welcome to attend. There is no cost for the course but students are expected to have on hand the study materials. Troop 46 Participates in the JOTA (added 18-October-2008)
Boy Scout Troop 46 participated in the Jamboree on the Air Saturday October 18th with the assistance of PARA. PARA members Rich KB3QKR and John N3SPW set up a HF station and a 2-meter station and helped the scouts make contacts on the air. For more details click the link above.

Paul W3PRL Upgrades to General (added 16-October-2008)

146.640 Repeater Back on the air (added 2--Sep-2008)
The Philipsburg Amateur Radio Association returned the Philipsburg 146.640 repeater to the air on Saturday. All equipment is borrowed wich will allow PARA some time to acquire its own equipemnt.

444.750 Repeater Antenna Installed (added 6-Sep-2008)
On Friday evening the new antenna for the 444.750 repeater was installed at the Decatur Township repeater site. Everything fired up ok and it is working as planned. Click the link above for details.

2008 Ham of the Year Award Nominations (added 14-Aug-2008)
Is there a local ham radio operator that you believe deserves special recognition for their ham radio related activities? Nominations are currently being accepted for the PARA Ham of the Year award. 2008 Christmas Banquet Plans Announced (added 14-Aug-2008)
The Philipsburg Amateur Radio Association will hold its Christmas Banquet at the Moshannon Valley Superbowl on Saturday December 20, 2008. The evening will start off with a social hour at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served at 7:00 PM. All amateur radio operators and their families and/or guests are welcome to attend. ARRL Affiliation is Approved (added 11-August-2008)
PARA officials have received official word from ARRL HQ stating that our ARRL club affiliation application has been approved. As of July 30, 2008 PARA is officially an ARRL affiliated club. Click the above link for details.

PARA to Start Weekly 2-Meter Net (added 11-August-2008)
Starting on Saturday August 23rd PARA will begin a weekly net on the 146.43 repeater. The net will start at 9 PM and Mark K3ITG will be net control. Click the above link for details.

Philipsburg Area Amateur Radio Picnic Pictures (added 27-July-2008)
The 2nd Annual Philipsburg Area Amateur Radio Picnic was held on Saturday July 27, 2008 at 11 AM. This event was open to all amateur radio operators in Clearfield and Centre Counties. A good time was had by all. Click the above link for pictures.

PARA Applies for ARRL Affiliation (added 7-July-2008)
At the June PARA meeting it was decided that PARA would seek affiliation with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). The necessary affiliation papwork was recently submitted to ARRL and we are awaing a responce from ARRL staff. Click the above link for details.

Pennsylvania Senate Bill 884 Tower Legislation (added 5-June-2008)
Working its way through the Pennsylvania Senate is a bill that seeks to further obligate municipalities within Pennsylvania to honor the PRB-1 FCC ruling. If enacted into law, any ordinance or regulation adopted by a Pennsylvania municipality will be required to reasonably accommodate amateur service communications. Steven Lazar Passes Technician License Test (added 17-Apr-2008)
The Philipsburg Amateur Radio Association is pleased to announce that Steven Lazar of Philipsburg successfully passed the written FCC amateur radio Technician Class examination on Wednesday evening. The examination session was the conclusion of a four week training class designed to prepare students for the FCC amateur radio examination. Click the link above for more information.

PARA Receives Vanity Club Call Sign (added 19-Mar-2008)

Dave K3MGC is 2007 Ham of the Year (added 23-Dec-2007)

PARA Plans Road-Trip to Timonium Hamfest (added 20-Dec-2007)
PARA members are planning a road-trip to the Greater Baltimore Hamboree and Computer Fest on March 29 & 30, 2008. This hamfest is held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium MD and is one of the region's best hamfests. If you would like to go with us, click the above link for more information.

On Saturday December 15th 2007 PARA members and their spouses gathered at the Philipsburg Country Club for the Christmas Banquet.
