Posted 18-October-2008
The West Branch Boy Scout Troop 46 participated in the Jamboree on the Air Saturday
October 18th with the assistance of PARA. PARA members Rich KB3QKR and John N3SPW
set up a HF station and a 2-meter station and helped the scouts make contacts on
the air. PARA members Joe KB3CBN and Mark K3ITG took a few minutes to talk with
several scouts on the 146.76 repeater.
The HF station consisted of a Icom 718 rig, a MFJ 969 antenna tuner, and a 80
meter doublet antenna. The 2 meter station was a Yaesu FT-1802 and a Comet GP-3
antenna.
The local Jamboree on the Air was held at Martha Park in Lance, PA. A number
of scouts took the opportunity to make contact with other scouts participating
in the Jamboree. The contact that seemed to cause the most excitement wasn't
another scout troop, but Canadian station VE3LLE.
