PRB-1 Tower Legislation
Pennsylvania Senate Bill 884
Posted 5-June-2008
Working its way through the Pennsylvania Senate is currently SB 884.
This bill is a very short two page bill that seeks to further obligate municipalities
within Pennsylvania to honor the PRB-1 FCC ruling. That means that by law any
ordinance or regulation adopted by a municipality will be required to reasonably accommodate
amateur service communications.
ARRL officials have requested Pennsylvania amateur radio operators to contact
their respective Senator and ask them to support SB 884. Be sure to include in
your letter:
“all we are asking is that the General Assembly of Pennsylvania simply codifies
the PRB-1 FCC ruling for Pennsylvania. That means that any ordinance or
regulation adopted by a municipality shall accommodate amateur service
communications.”
With your help, SB 884 will become law in Pennsylvania and the ability of local
municipalities to enact laws restricting amateur radio towers and antennas
will be significantly reduced.
